Majestic creatures of paper

Paper is just not a thing you can write on, draw on or use for your homework.  Paper can be turned into majestic works of art.  The artist Robert Sweeney recently showed us that in an art installation that he created for Lincoln Cathedral.

These horses were created with sheets of white paper.  What do you think?  Would you go to see them?  What would you like to see up close about them?  What questions would you like to ask the artist if you could meet him?   Do you think they should have been made out of a different medium?

  1. I think these are very cool just because of the dedication involved, but i believe that these would be a lot cool if they were made from construction paper in appropriate colors.

  2. This is a really cool project. The sculptures with the really beautiful window in the background. This looks like it could take some time to build all this. My favorite would probably go to the one with the horses and the big, colorful window in the background.

  3. They look like they were made form marble.I probably wouldn't go see them. If i was up close i would like to see if it is actually mad up of paper or something else.

  4. This is pretty legit I really like the dimension of the whole thing, and how it looks so smooth. The other amazing thing is how long it must have taken to make these is unfathomable.

  5. I really like this art piece the artist did. I like how the horses just pop out and look sort of real. I also like how the artist did this out of paper, even though to me it didn't look like paper at first.

  6. I like to do origami, but I don't' think I would ever be able to do this. The artist must have been a very patient person. This seems very hard to do.

  11. That would be extremely hard not to crinkly a single piece of paper. I don't know how she did it. Plus you would have to cut them perfect.

  12. I think the medium of these animals should be something different. They dont look so majestic with this paper. I think something like white plastic would look better. Especially if they are in a museum, plus they would hold up better and stronger

  21. I love this piece of art and I love that someone was creative enough to think of it. I would love to do something like this sometime. If i could somehow figure this out, i think it would be fun to make an armadillo because of the way the ridges on their shells overlap.

  22. I really like how they used white paper for this. It really sells a marble statue sort of feel. If I could ask the artist one questions I would ask how they visualize there statues in a 3d space and if they draw these out beforehand.
