Body Art
Body painting is not necessarily a new form of art, but it is amazing what artists like Shannon Holt from Florida can do with paint on the human body. She has created a series of paintings on humans called the "Florida Wildlife Series." Each painting takes anywhere from 6-12 hours each.
So what are your thoughts about this type of art? Can you find the human form in each picture? Could you do this as an artist and be okay with the fact that it will be washed off? Or better yet, could you be the model that would have to sit in that position for 6-12 hours?

i really like how the artist interpreted both animal and human and it looks well blended, it doesnt look like both things are squished in there
ReplyDeleteI like how the animals look realistic. I'm not a huge fan of it being painted on a human body though. I have a feeling that getting painted on like that would be uncomfortable and the paint brush probably would tickle.
ReplyDeleteThis is the type of artwork I find very unique compared to all of the many other ideas that can be created. To be able to find an image of an animal and paint it on to an actual human being is amazing and inspiring. To be able to put these animals on a person must have taken hours to do and so much patience. So many things that make this unique.

ReplyDeleteIf I had to be in that position for 6-12 hours I would need substantial pay and a chiropractor.

ReplyDeleteI found the human in the painting. Not really into the body painting. Don't think i would want to be in that position for 6-12 hours.
ReplyDeletei think this is weird but it goes to show the extents some people will go to for the things that they love. it would be very uncomfortable for me but thats just me.

ReplyDeleteI think this art is really awesome. It looks like it took lots of work and time to make something like this and it actually difficult to find the human bodies in this picture. I dont think i could sit still long enough to get painted like this and its just going to get washed off anyways. Its really cool though.
ReplyDeleteThat looks pretty cool. The people are hard to find in the photo's. It would be weird painting a someones body for six hours.

ReplyDeleteThis is kinda creepy.. But it is pretty realistic. I wouldnt like being these people though. It would be kinda weird Being painted on and have t sit in those uncomfortable looking positions. This would have to take forever! There is so much detail and colors.

ReplyDeleteThis artist takes a long time to paint this onto someone, and its just going to be washed off, but it is really neat photographed. I feel bad for the people who have to be in weird positions for long periods of time, it would be super uncomfortable. In the end I think the whole process was worth it.

ReplyDeletei really like this post out of all the ones on this blog! i really like the alligator because it looks the most difficult and has the most work put in. i think this would be cool for our art class to attempt.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really cool! I like how they use a human and then they make an animal inside of it. The colors look so real and the animal looks real to. You can kinda see the human in the back ground. I would love to try this.

ReplyDeleteThis art is insane! Did they sit there, and the person painted on them for all that time, or did they paint it normal, knowing what it would look like when they did a certain pose? It makes me wonder if the person had to move around a lot until it was just right.
ReplyDeleteI personally find these a bit creepy. I think overall they're also pretty cool though. It's just that the human blends in with the over all background but you can just barely see the outline of them. I also would not want to be one of the people painted on because that would be a pain in the butt to take off.
ReplyDeleteI really like these. The first time that I looked at them I thought that they were just animals painted on a piece of paper. I really didn't think they looked that cool. They I read just a little bit at the bottom and found out that they were humans. I would like to do this as long as they didn't take it off. I would paint myself to look like a transformer then when it got down into a crouch it would look like a car!
ReplyDeleteI think this is so cool. It's awesome that someone can paint like this on the human body. It is difficult but you can see the human form. I would not want to sit for that long. It would be hard to see my art piece be washed off.

ReplyDeleteI think this is super cool art! I can definitely pick out the human in each! I think it would be hard but cool to be the artist. You can always take a picture like these and I would be okay with it being washed away then. I could never be the model because you have to stay still in a cramped position. You would also have to be naked which I am not okay with, haha.

ReplyDeleteI would love to do that, that is if i was a painter or a drawer and i can't do both of those. Its wired but cool i thought it was a reflection than i saw it was a human and a animal! Amazing!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of my FAVORITE types of art. Its so unique and interesting, i love it. It just takes "painting" to a whole different level.

ReplyDeleteI think this is pretty cool, but I also think that it is pretty weird. I think it would be a long process to do and you would need to be very precise
ReplyDeleteI couldn't imagine being in such a position for that long of time. Not only that, but you'd have to eventually wash off the masterpiece on your skin. Despite that, it is truly magnificent!

ReplyDeleteThey all look very nice. There is no way I could be able to sit there in the same position for 6-12 hours. I think it would be fun to try on a smaller scale so it wouldn't take as long.
