Glass gone wild


As I have tried to show you there are all sorts of mediums you can use to create art and one of the most beautiful and most versitile is glass.  One of the best glass artists in the world is Dale Chihuly.  He is originally from Tacoma, Washington, but has studied glass work in both Wisconsin and Venice, Italy.  He currently has a work of art in all parts of the world and some of his best work is just down the road from us at the Joslyn Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.

Chihuly uses a glass blowing technique and then melts the glass together to create his wild sculptures and chandaliers.  Oh yes, some of his sculptures have lights and are actually functional works of art.

    I think it would take a lot of paitience and caret to create pieces of work like this. The blue and green piece is actually my favorite. Its amazing that he has artwork in Nebraska.

    i think this art is cool but would take alot of time because you have to melt the glass.

    i think this art is pretty cool. they get paid great so let them keep doing it. gotta make stuff look cool so let them keep doing it.

    These are cool. I like them all, but the one I like the most is the first. I like it because it is red, and i like the color red.

    I like all of them all they are all realy cool. I think it would take a lot of time to melt all that glass and putting it together.

    This is very cool type of art. it would be fun to try this, but we would have to do it on a smaller level. i think it would be very hard but fun to try.

    I think this looks really cool, its crazy how thats all glass! I would love to have like a mini version of one of these glass projects to put in my house! The colors are really pretty and just stand out, it really captures my attention.

    I think it is really cool that they made these with glass. My favorite is the blue and green one. It would take alot of patience to make them.

    They're all really appealing. I just keep thinking what if it dropped or fell? I really love glass art but I would hate spending all the time to do any of it.

    i love this type of art. its so pretty, the only issue with it is it takes along time. it would be really hard for me to do this id just break the glass

    this art is so cool. ilove all the many colors that is has. My favorites would have to be the first one and the last one. The last one to me would make it feel like im in an aquarieum. I think you would have to be very good at melting glass. This art is very cool

    This art work is very interesting. It is very colorful and can catch peoples attention easily. I also think that it would be time consuming.

    This is pre neat! You just gotta take a look at it and say look at this! I would have trouble positioning all the shaped glass. It's pretty sweeeeet though!

    that is really good. my favorite is the second one becaus eit is so tall. i think you would need extreme paitence and be very specific with all the measurements so it doesnt fall apart.

    ive always loved glass art. in some way i beleive that it is a reflection of the artists spirit. the way the glass is blown and the colors used are a part of a personality. i really hate having a deep side.

    All the time so melt the glass and try to make all the perfect spirals would be hard but I would pay for this type of art. It is beautiful, colorful and creative.

    I think you would need a lot of patience and time to make art this well. This project would be very time consuming. The last picture is my favorite because you can see many different colors and it makes everything brighter!

    I seen something like this on the show Cake Boss, but they made it out of sugars. When they went to suspend it from the ceiling, it feel and shattered. If I made something like this and that I happened I would probably cry.
