Have you ever read a map? Now I don't mean mapquest or some other GPS locator, but a good old fashioned paper map? The kind that you have to figure out how to fold up after you unfold them. I am guessing that most of you have never really looked at one before.
Do you know what the different lines and colors meant? Do you know why the page looks like it is yellow? Well each color told different things, from roads vs interstates, rivers, parks and sometimes elevations.
Well I found one artist named Colby who is taking a map of London and changing it into a scary image.
So what do you think of this? Do you think he did it more for artistic purposes or political purposes? What message do you think he is trying to say?

Scream art teacher
So I figured I would ask all of you what you would think of me if I wore this necklace to school one day?
What would you think of me? What would you think if you saw it on someone else? Are your thoughts the same or would you be different because you know me? And if so, why?

Playing with keys
Now I know that all of you have had a key fall off of your computer keyboard at one time or another. And while I am sure it was an "accident," you are aware of how easily they come off and can go back on. But have you ever stopped to think about those keys and what you could create with them?
I am sure none of you really have stopped to think about that or what you can do with computer parts, but stop for a moment and think about all of the discarded computers out there. We have been using computers for almost 30+ years, and you and I both know that they don't last that long.
So what could you do with those parts? Well one artist from Melbourne, Australia named WBK (works by knight) has started creating portraits out of recycled keyboard keys.
So what do you think of these? Can you think of any other computer parts that could be recycled into some really cool art? Or whose portrait would you like to create if you had all of these keys?

Negative art
Now negative art doesn't mean that it is mean art or has a bad attitude. Negative art deals with the space in which something is used. In the case of this work of art, usually the tree is filled in and the area around it is in negative space, but this time the object was flipped. The tree is in negative space, or empty space, and the area around it is filled in with string and nails.
So what do you think of this piece? Is it art or is it more crafty? Sometime there is a difference and sometimes there isn't.

Ink on a page
Now ink has been on book pages for centuries. Can you find the date of the first book? Do you even know what that book was?
Well an Australian artist by the name of Loui Jover has started putting ink on pages in a new way. He is almost using ink like watercolor paint and creating pictures over the top of recycled book pages. You can still see the book pages under the artwork.
What do you think of these pieces? What parts do you like or what parts do you wish would be changed? Are there any details that stick out for you?

Had to show
Well someone just sent me to a website about this work of art and so i am also going to send you to this site. Usually I bring the pictures to you, but this time there are too many great pictures to bring them all to you. If you like the image I brought to you I hope you will go and check out the rest. They are all made with cut paper, and if you look close enough you can find letters and even words.
You can find more work at http://design-milk.com/astoundingly-detailed-cut-paper-art-pablo-lehmann/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews
Let me know what you think about these pieces. Will you ever complain about any assignment I ever give you again?
Landscape art??
So when you think of landscape art, what do you think of? Do you only think of paintings, drawings or can sculpture be made into landscape art? What about a landscape art installation piece?
An installation piece, for those that don't know, is a work of art that can really never be sold or is too large to be displayed in someone's home or office. They are usually pieces that are created for a short term exhibition or show. Usually they are made to make some sort of political or environmental cause or some other type of cause that they are trying to bring attention to.
I would like you to tell me what material they are using in this installation landscape piece, and I would also like to know what message you think they are trying to send to the viewer.
Now I am guessing you will figure out the medium pretty easy, but I am curious if you have any guesses as to how many were needed to create this art, and I also want to know how it makes you feel or what message you get out of seeing a piece of art like this.

Chew on this...
So I have done several posts on sculptures that use different or weird mediums, but this one might be one of the more unusual artworks. Maurizio Savini is an italian artist that has been using chewing gum as his medium of choice for the past 10 years. Now as far as I can tell I don't think it has been chewed, but I will let you figure out how it is attached.
So what do you think? I love the texture of the bear and how the chewing gum looks like real fur, but what do you think of these sculptures?

All about perspective
Have you ever seen those magic eyes that are in the Sunday papers? They are the images that look like nothing until you stare at it from a different angle, usually with your eyes crossed.
They are just a new way of looking at something, or a new perspective. The same way that two people can watch clouds and they each see something different.
Well one artist has taken logs that are cut and placed them in the sand. From one angle they look like a jumbled mess, but when you start to walk around them and see them from a different point of view, you can then see that they become a work of art.
So what are your thoughts on this? Do you think that the jumbled mess has some beauty or is it just the face that you find amazing? Would you like to see this one or would you like to make one? Do you even know who this is a picture of?
