Had to show

Well someone just sent me to a website about this work of art and so i am also going to send you to this site.  Usually I bring the pictures to you, but this time there are too many great pictures to bring them all to you.  If you like the image I brought to you I hope you will go and check out the rest.  They are all made with cut paper, and if you look close enough you can find letters and even words.

Let me know what you think about these pieces.  Will you ever complain about any assignment I ever give you again?

Landscape art??

So when you think of landscape art, what do you think of?  Do you only think of paintings, drawings or can sculpture be made into landscape art?  What about a landscape art installation piece?

An installation piece, for those that don't know, is a work of art that can really never be sold or is too large to be displayed in someone's home or office.  They are usually pieces that are created for a short term exhibition or show.  Usually they are made to make some sort of political or environmental cause or some other type of cause that they are trying to bring attention to.

I would like you to tell me what material they are using in this installation landscape piece, and I would also like to know what message you think they are trying to send to the viewer.

Now I am guessing you will figure out the medium pretty easy, but I am curious if you have any guesses as to how many were needed to create this art, and I also want to know how it makes you feel or what message you get out of seeing a piece of art like this.

Chew on this...

So I have done several posts on sculptures that use different or weird mediums, but this one might be one of the more unusual artworks.  Maurizio Savini is an italian artist that has been using chewing gum as his medium of choice for the past 10 years.  Now as far as I can tell I don't think it has been chewed, but I will let you figure out how it is attached.

So what do you think?  I love the texture of the bear and how the chewing gum looks like real fur, but what do you think of these sculptures?

All about perspective

Have you ever seen those magic eyes that are in the Sunday papers?  They are the images that look like nothing until you stare at it from a different angle, usually with your eyes crossed.

They are just a new way of looking at something, or a new perspective.  The same way that two people can watch clouds and they each see something different.

Well one artist has taken logs that are cut and placed them in the sand.  From one angle they look like a jumbled mess, but when you start to walk around them and see them from a different point of view, you can then see that they become a work of art.

So what are your thoughts on this?  Do you think that the jumbled mess has some beauty or is it just the face that you find amazing?  Would you like to see this one or would you like to make one?  Do you even know who this is a picture of?

Super money -$$

So it is illegal to deface money, but you see it done all the time.  How many of you have ever used a dollar that has writing on it?  I know I have.  Well the artist below decided to make he money into super heros.

So what do you think of these creatively done dollar amounts?  Should we make them the new currency? I am guessing that more of you know who these characters are then the real people pictured on these bills.  In fact I will give double points to the first person to give me the super hero and the real person from each bill.  That is four combinations for double points.  Good Luck.

How is it made?

Alright,  I am going to give out a blog post challenge that is going to be worth 3 blogs to the first person that figures out everything I want to know.

I want to know how the pictures below were made.  What mediums are being used and how the technique is being used.  I also want to know who the artist is.

If you can be the first to find all of that info, I will give you credit for 3 blogs.  Good Luck.

So....

Have you ever just wanted to create something out of nothing?  Have you ever been so bored you decided to build something out of staples?  What?? You haven't thought of building a city out of staples like this guy?

Peter Root decided to just create his own city, out of office staples.

So what do you think of this city?  Is it creative, crazy, or just plain cool?  Would you have the patience or be willing to put in the effort?  What would it take to get you to create something like this?
