What can you do with a single line?

Ok I know what you are thinking, a single line can't create a work of art.  I am sure you would all like to do a work of art with only a single line and get a good grade for it.  But, if your work of art had a line that looked like these I would give you an A+.

That is right, the above work was created with a single line.  The color changes but the lines never cross.  This artwork is the brain child of an artist by the name of Geoff Slater.  He actually had the thought several years ago, and decided to try it to see if he could actually create a work of art in a single line. He says it takes some planning, but in the end the works are very unique and hav earned him some honors.

So do you think you could create a work of art with a single line?  Remember he started with simple projects before tackling this last one.  Would you be willing to even try?  Can you think about how you would even start this project?

Stuck on art

What would you do if you walked into a completley white room and someone handed you a colorful sticker and said you could put it anywhere?  Would you feel intimidated to leave it on the nice white surface or would you be thrilled to be the first to place a sticker somewhere?

This is exactly what an art museum in Japan did.  Over a two week period they gave every young person who walked in a sticker and told them to apply it to the room.  Below you can see what happened.

So my question is where would you have put a sticker if you were the first one to put one on the wall?  By the end where would you have thought of putting your sticker?

Tree of life art

I am always a fan of art that surprises me.  So when I came across this picture on pinterest I loved how I thought it was a print of tree rings, but then when it shows a close up it is something completely different.

I love how the animals interact but never touch.  What else can you see about this work of art?  What surprises you?

You won't believe your eye

Ok, I want you to a quick look at the picture below.  Just make it a quick glance.  And tell me what you see.

Now look at the same picture a little longer.  What do you see this time?

Can you see the sink drain?  This is what happens when a photographer is in the right place at the right time.

Food art

I know I have shown you some art like this before, but it always amazes me.  This time someone took famous works of art and used food to recreate the work of art.  I think I am amazed more by the patience it would take to recreate a work of art in this style.

Maybe I am the only one amazed.  Do they amaze you?  Can you think of another medium that would create an amazing work of art?

Poe Art

On this day in hisotry Edgar Allan poe was born.  Poe was an artist with words, and even though some of his works could be considered controversial and often confusing, he made us think.  And any artist that makes you think is a great artist in my book.

Can you name the poem that the following work of art was based on?

Can you name this other famous story by Poe?

Poe inspired dark works of art.  Can you name the two works?
